Synopsis of Workshop #LWP-2423 “How to Work With The Media”

In this workshop, we show you how you can communicate effectively with reporters without the risk of being quoted out of context or misquoted, how to understand the mentality of the media, how to help the reporter define the story and how to deliver your key messages and provide powerful quotes. This session covers the essential elements of crafting and delivering effective and powerful media messages.  Brainstorming exercises and small group interactive activities combined with communication theory will help participants handle general interview situations and work with different types of media. The session also includes the opportunity for participants to role-play interviews before the group.


You will learn:

√  How to prepare facts and messages and deliver them in a clear, concise way.

√   How to anticipate the questions reporters will ask and prepare answers and compelling quotes.

√  How to handle the toughest questions and what to do when you don’t want to or can’t answer.

√  Easy ways to transition to your message—to talk about what you want to discuss.

√   How to gracefully handle reporters who become angry or have a hidden agenda.
